Stinson Beach

Working in a one-room studio with a single bed and a hot plate, Perillat produced hundreds of mixed-media abstract expressionist and patterned paintings at Stinson Beach, some of them large-scale collages. He selectively destroyed the work he considered unsatisfactory; neighbors stored the rest. The surviving canvases, many of them dated to the day, trace an intense period of invention.
